Making Gold in Doloc Town
Spend the first 500 coins on slots, then stack Endyam, Kelp, and seasonal cash crops.
Gold is the quiet bottleneck of Doloc Town. You can plant well, fight well, and still stall because a backpack, a copper pickaxe, or the 5,000 G treaty-port bill arrives before your farm is earning. This page is the spend-and-earn map for the 1.0 release (August 5, 2026): what to buy on day one, which loops print coins without wasting stamina, and which purchases look tempting but slow you down. Pair it with Early Game, Crops, and the crop profit tier list.
Doloc Town is single-player. There is no gold transfer, no trading post with friends, and no coupon box on the Steam overlay. The telephone codes unlock music disks, not wallets. Treat every coin as a decision about inventory space, time, and weather risk.
Day-one spend: backpack before wallpaper
You start with 300 G. Talking to Mayor Claud adds 200 G, which the quest text frames as seed money. Cassia / Kasia already hands you ten Endyam seeds, so you do not need Hult’s starter packets. Spend the 500 G on the first backpack upgrade at Hult’s general store. It doubles slots. The second backpack jump costs 4,000 G — ignore it until Month 2 cash crops are rolling.
Decor, extra wooden basins you cannot water, and mid-tier fishing rods are the usual traps. The cheapest bamboo rod is enough until you have a reason to fish legendaries. A free or trash-pile drone near the outpost often outclasses an early paid frame. If you are still learning the clock, finish Getting Started and How to Play before you min-max sales.
Early loops that actually pay
Endyam grows in two days during Light Rain and Heavy Rain months, sells for 40 G, and shrugs off a lot of early acid. Two raw Endyam are 80 G. Once the Life tree unlocks a cooking pot, two Endyam become Mixed Endfoods at 110 G — a real bump, unlike recipes that sell for the same as their ingredients. Plant them in basins, not wishful dirt; the soil will not grow a crop after the war.
Kelp at Doloc Dock / Fishing Port is the other week-one printer. After the fisherman’s mail, pick up the free rod and stand beside the port. Kelp sells around 40–45 G and skips the fishing minigame, so stamina-per-gold beats Four-eyed Fish at the Eastern Pond (55 G each, full minigame). Rain at the port can roll Cod near 170 G. Details live on Fishing.
Shiitake is the first “I should stop planting only Endyam” crop once you can reach the Wetland mother plant and finish the fungus research. Community profit tables put unprocessed Shiitake near 50 G/day, ahead of Strawberry and Tomato, because basement bags ignore some season locks. Unlock order and cave requirements sit on the crop profit list and Gathering.
Mid-game: cook, process, do not dump seeds
Raw fruit is a beginner tax. Cooking and workshop processing (oil, wine, caviar) are where Month 2–3 gold comes from — if the recipe actually multiplies. Test a plate once: if the cooked price equals the raw stack, eat it for stamina instead of selling. Stamina foods pays for itself on ruin days even when the vendor number looks modest.
Month 4 (dry / high-price window in community notes) is when hoarded crops, smoked fish, and aged barrels spike. Do not sell every Tomato the night you pick it if you can store through the price season. The cargo shipping drone on the farm pad is the other silent leak: load it, then activate it. Forgetting the launch button is free gold sitting on a platform.
Bulletin-board orders and Gerald construction requests pay Tech Points and coins. Pin one high-pay crop row instead of ripping a whole floor mid-season. Lank buys surplus; do not sell the last quest stack Alchemy mailed you about.
What gold is for (and what it is not)
Spend gold on slots, copper pickaxe timing for the River Valley rockfall (1,500 G plus ingots), port restoration (5,000 G), farm expansion when watering is already solved, and drone parts you will actually socket. Do not spend it on:
- Mid-tier rods and drone frames you will replace after Guild gear
- Decorative furniture before weather protection covers the crop row
- Gene experiments with no backup seed — see Gene System
- Impulse Festival décor that does not unlock a recipe
Story bills are not optional. The Walkthrough and Environmental Modifier pages list the 5,000 G port, later 10,000 G Old City material runs, and Shylock’s haggling path. Farm for those dates the way you farm for Festivals.
Cross-check numbers in the database
Sell prices on this wiki are planning numbers. Shops can scale by season, and a listed −1 means not for sale. When you need the exact row — Endyam 40 G, Chinese Cabbage 130 G, Pumpkin 360 G, Kelp versus Cod — open the community catalog at doloctowndb.wiki from the community database page. Believe the catalog for the digit. Believe this guide for the job: Keratinized Endyam still beats a dead cabbage in acid 0.45 weather.

Gold in Doloc Town is time you already spent watering. Spend it on space and story doors, then let genes and automation multiply the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should I buy with the first 500 gold?
The first backpack from Hult. Cassia already gave Endyam seeds; extra starter packets waste the Mayor’s 200 G gift.
Is Kelp better than Four-eyed Fish for early gold?
Usually yes. Kelp at the Fishing Port skips the minigame, so gold per minute beats the 55 G pond fish until you enjoy the reel.
When should I cook Endyam instead of selling raw?
As soon as the cooking pot is unlocked. Mixed Endfoods sell for 110 G versus 80 G for two raw Endyam.
Do telephone codes give gold?
No. Dial 12311, 24141, and 35321 for music disks only. See the codes page.
Why is Month 4 special for selling?
Community play notes a high-price window. Store processed goods and dump them then instead of selling every harvest the same night.
Where can I check exact sell prices?
Use the item catalog on doloctowndb.wiki and the community database hub on this wiki.
